Still going strong: Multi-BIS, WW 2001 Akuaba in Gingham

gepostet am 08.12.2011

Our lovely girl Gingham, Multi-Champion, Multi-BIS Akuaba in Gingham (Breeder: Susan Coe/Australia) is celebrating her 14th birthday. She still looks stunningly pretty and is in top condition and health. Ginghi is Divo's travel companion.

Interested in the breed for more than 20 years, we finally got our first Basenji from the US:  Akuaba's Rose Parade d'Akili, who became a Multi-Champion, Best in Show - winner and earned many titles. She left us last year, almost 16 years old. Other Basenjis followed in the 1980's, like Ch. Akuaba's Scorcher "Rusty" who left us last year. He too, was extremely successful. We also had Ch. Kisa Tarragon live with us, who became World Winner and Multi-Best in Show Champion while he stayed in Europe.

Our veteran  Ginghi, Akuaba in Gingham, came to Germany in 1999 and lived with us since she was 2 years old, and is now celebrating her 14th birthday. All these years she has been owner handled with great success, and finally won the World Show in Portugal.

Here is the moment to thank Susan Coe who entrusted Gingham to us, as well as Rose and Rusty. Susan will always remain  t h e   Basenji expert for us with her profound knowledge of and dedication to this breed.

All our Basenjis lived to a high age and were happy and healthy dogs.

Gingham had one litter in the US, but unfortunately her only son who came to live in Europe called "Oliver" got into the hands of a breeder in Denmark, Pia Palmblad Wright. She put him to sleep only 4 (four) years old - as many Basenjis before who did not get much older. Her latest victim: African Rainbows Dakira, who was just 4 years old as well.

There is a list going through the internet stating that at least 14 Basenjis who stayed with this breeder did not reach the age of 10. We are always there to help Basenjis in Need. Our rescue organization www.basenjis-in-not.de is always ready to take over unwanted, mistreated, or old Basenjis who  had lost their homes.

Gingham as World Winner 2001 in Portugal.

She is a Multi-Group-Winner as well.
